Ranger Promo Art

04.08.2013:

The first one of the promotional art pieces for Pyrrhic Studios. Painted them a bit more realistic then the original characters, but kept the strong lines and cell shading for consistency.

Battleground

30.07.2013:

Hello everybody! Today I finally finished the first battleground for Pyrrhic Studios. Original is 5600x3150 pixels. Learned a lot while doing this! The treetops are in front of the characters. So they are partly hidden behind them.

Da-dum

30.05.2013:

Nothing but a sketch today...

Ok...some news at least :D I got feedback regarding my character concepts and they seem to like them. I was told that I'm their favorite candidate so far and that I will have an interview with them on Sunday, 2nd June through Skype. I'm kinda nervous right now. First because I really want this job and second I'm not used to talking English so I'm afraid I could screw it up :/
But I'm totally happy to have gone this far and it would be the great birthday present ever if I get this job! =)

Another qualifying test!

29.05.2013:

Hiho everyone!

I'm back from my grandparents and spend today a bit more time on the qualifying test. Because the characters sketches they showed me where kinda cute, this time I went also with a cute style. Also I did one which easily could be transferred to vector graphics. So that they see at least a bit of the range I'm capable of doing. I really really hope they like what I did, because I would love to work for them. It's the kind of game I really enjoy playing. But more to it after I know if it worked out or not. Wish me luck! :D

Project finished!

26.05.2013:

It's over =(( All assets for Javier are finished and so our work together ends. At least for now. He mentioned that he thinks about making another small game at the end of this year. It would be great to work with him again =)

Besides that I did another one of those imaginative sketches. Don't ask me what it is supposed to be, I couldn't really concentrate :/ Also did some more color studies.

But now on to the good news, or at least I hope they will turn out good. Currently I'm in negotiations with a start up based in Boston. They asked me to do one of their characters in the style I would imagine for the game as a little test. I didn't had much time for it today, because I had to finish up the work for Javier. But I at least did manage a fast sketch and will do another one for them on Wednesday when I'm back! So hopefully I will have a new job soon and can keep learning and improving while doing actual contract work.

Freelance work

Hi guys, today is my first day of working freelance as a 2d artist. I'm working together with Javier Bryan who is an independent games developer creating a 2d side scroller. More about his game you can find out here. My tasks include the character design of the main character as well as enemies. Besides that I do the character animations, backgrounds and tiles for the first three levels of the game.
Javier was so nice to allow me to share my progress with you guys. So here it goes.

First of the initial concepts for the batman like main character. He choose concept 24. And some scribbles to figure out how I want to animate his cape. I'm completely new to 2d animation. So let's see with what I can come up with. Till tomorrow!
