Princess Bubblegum

02.03.2015:
princess bubblegum (w.i.p., photoshop cc)

I really love 2015. I made a lot of decision which hopefully will help me to grow as an artist and a person and therefor I'm really excited to see the results end of the year. For now I just enjoy the journey until then.

One of those decisions was to start doing fanart. I mostly kept away from it in the past, because I somehow feel it limits you in your creativity. Because the design, clothing etc is already defined. But the good thing about it is, that you really can concentrate on an interesting composition, pose and art style.

So here are the sketch, lines as well as flat colors for my interpretation of Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. I love this series a lot! ♡

I created my own costume for her based on the original design and went with my own color palette as well. Next will be the rendering. I really would love to give kind of jelly see-through hair.  Let's see if I will manage ;)

Color process

29.06.2014:

And the month is already nearing its end. For today I decided to work on one of my sketchbook pages further. Instead of drawing the lines per hand in photoshop I went with paths. I still have to learn a lot in that regard. I also quickly included a castle in the clouds in the background (not done with paths yet) to give the picture more depth and some kind of story^^

My original sketch you can find here.

Valentins Day - ArmorGames Contest

10.02.2014:
Hi guys!

I'm quite proud of myself right now. I always plan to participate in contests, but I never get over the state of the initial concepts. This can be out if different reasons. Something else came up, no time, being intimidated by the concurrence or I just can't get it to look like I want it to look. Which is stupid! Because at least for me, contests aren't about winning. They are about tackling an issue, I normally won't, getting out of my comfort zone and learning a heck while doing so!

That said, I'm totally happy that I actually participated in a contest and went through with it until the very end. Here you can see my entry for the Valentins Contest from ArmorGames. Task was to create an avatar (100x100 pixels) to this topic. I personally really like how it came out!

Story: I'm sure everyone realizes that Amor himself must be doing this job for ages already. That said he is quite sick of taking care of all the high expectations people have on Valentins Day every year. So he started to think like a business man. Now he has a lot of employes which do the work for him. How does he pay them you ask? Easy. Companies like ArmorGames want to spread some love and give back to the community. That said they asked Amor to send someone appropriate for the job. Someone who gives a hint, who we have to thank for all the love ;)

PS: I hope the little helper manages to give all the love before he drops out of the sky of exhaustion.

Based on a simple idea: Amor + Armor = A(r)mor

I was really happy, when some of the admins thanked me for taking part and also published my work through the official ArmorGames-Twitter-Account. Not to mention that they are following my twitter account now <3

Enough rambling. Here the final entry as well as the 500x500 work size I created this little fellow on!

Illustration Progress

09.11.2013:

Hey guys! Spend some more time on my illustration today. Rearranged her in front of the moon, so she is in focus. And finished the line art today. Also took out the color. So that it doesn't get overwhelming and I can tackle on problem at a time. So wish me luck :)

Illustration

07.11.2013:

Great day indeed! Finally started an illustration again. I'm so proud atm. I was mainly drawing for work the last months so doing something for myself feels really good!

Shapes

17.09.2013:

Hello! Today I was in a creative mood. And so I started to block in some shades of grey to define foreground, middle ground and background. Afterwards I threw lines over it. And tadaa a guideline for a painting was created :D Hope I will find to work further on it soon. See yah!

Little Mermaid

06.02.2013:

Kept working on the mermaid piece and started to put colors in to check if the values work. Used the gradient map for it. Found out that the values doesn't work. So back to value studies.

After that I needed a little break from it, so I started to paint a face from my mind. Started directly in color and like it really much :3

Little Mermaid

25.01.2013:

Redid the mermaids body, because it looked totally wrong in case of values and structure. Like it much better this way. The farther I go with this image the more intimidating it get's. But I'm still in time. So let's see how it will turn out in the end.

Little mermaid

24.01.2013:

Today I added the corals and the little creature thingies and also started to block in the colors. You can't see any of them because I will first render it in grayscale and then switch them back on and do refinement. Til now all rendering is without the use of any references. But when I see the thumbnail I think I have to do it again tomorrow...with references xD

Little mermaid

23.01.2013:

And this was day two on the road to my first finished personal illustration. Today I didn't achieve that much. But it's going onwards :) I fixed some proportion and anatomy issues. Especially in case of the hands. And started to add the "magic". In this case there has to happen a lot more refinement. But every step onward is one step closer to my goal. So see yah tomorrow :)

Little mermaid - color choice

16.12.2012:

Hello everyone, two weeks ago I uploaded a sketch for a piece I want to do, so here you can see the initial colors I want to go with. Next step: Correction of anatomy and detail work in the lineart!
